Emerge from Lockdown with a New You – Look Good, Feel Good.

After weeks of homeschooling I am so relieved to have one less thing on my plate! It might feel like we were coping but if I take a long hard look, I was surviving not thriving! So many ladies have really been struggling and feeling horrible about the whole matter. So now that the kids are back we can take a deep breath and give back to ourselves. It’s time to look good and feel good! Emerging from Lockdown feeling like a new you!

Look Good, Feel Good

This is one of my favourite things to say, because I believe it with all of my being. I feel like a whole new person with clean blow-dried hair, a little makeup and dressed in nice clothes. I have a spring in my step and I am ready to take on the world! It’s really amazing that when I look good, I feel good. So I know all too well that your skin, weight or hair can get you down and none of them are really easy fixes.

There is still time to make a difference to how you feel coming out of Lockdown. Small incremental steps can lead to big changes. Here are some things you could do to help you with that look good, feel good factor. This is self-care at its core.

Skincare

The winter Lockdown has wreaked havoc on people’s skin. Conditions both old and new flaring up. Take a small step by having a free skin consultation with me, Dr Roxi. Just knowing what your skin needs can help you to make that one change to your routine which in turn can make all the difference!

Clothes

A great outfit can lift your mood significantly. Is this a dress or a bright top for you? Get out of those leggings and into that feel good outfit! If you look at your wardrobe and see a ton of clothes but nothing to wear, maybe you need a wardrobe workout. Lindsey West from House of Colour has been running one recently to help ladies find joy in the clothes they have.

Makeup

Wear a touch of makeup for the school run or whenever you do leave the house. Blush, mascara and maybe some lip colour. You will find you feel better.

Hair

My hair needs some TLC! Touch up my roots and a nourishing treatment. I know I’m not alone here. Lois from Muse hairdressing says to stay away from box dyes as they are drying, but rather do a nourishing treatment once a week. There is a Wella one that has a slight tint that washes out, just to get you through until the 12th.

The Next few aren’t going to give you that immediate look good factor but they sure will contribute to the feel good factor as well as long term help you look good.

Water

Squeeze in an extra glass of water into your day. You can down one before you drink your morning cup of coffee or before your lunch. There are so many benefits to an optimal water intake, namely for your digestive system and your skin! Try it! Who knows it may inspire you to squeeze another one in!

Food

Getting rid of excess weight gained over the last year can feel like a daunting task, but every step in the right direction can compound the effect and result in losing pounds. Focus on nourishing your body and taking it slow. Slow and steady will lead to long lasting results. Plan for at least one healthy meal in the day. This should be packed with veg to get the benefits of all those nutrients and fibre. Just one, if that’s all you can manage.

Have Something to Look Forward to

This is a simple thing that can make you feel so much better. Book that appointment for your hair, your nails or your wrinkles, to give you something to look forward to.

Emerge from Lockdown a New You

Small steps in the right direction with some essential self-care is all you need to feel like a new you. The best you, considering the circumstances. Even the smallest changes can bring you that look good, feel good feeling.
