Lip fillers are a popular treatment with patients at my aesthetics clinic in Salisbury. Often my patients don’t come asking for lip fillers, they come in wanting to improve the lines around the lips and prevent their lipstick bleeding into the surrounding area.
The solution however is lip fillers. Lip fillers are great because they can improve the look of ageing lips, hydrate the look of the skin on the lips, and be used to add a bit more volume to enhance beauty. Whatever the reason for a patient wanting lip filler treatment, my ethos is to make sure that you always get beautiful, natural looking results.

Why replace volume in the lips?
Collagen and elastin are responsible for making our skin look voluminous, soft and supple. We lose collagen and elastin from our skin as we age including from the skin on our lips. This can lead to lips looking flatter, with lines on and around the lips, and the lips can start to look dehydrated.

Lip filler can smooth the lines, replace lost volume and make the skin on the lips look more hydrated. Lip filler helps to restore the structure/ framework of the lips which helps to support the fine lines around the lips. These lines have previously been referred to as smokers lines but they can occur as part of ageing. We can also add filler to the lines themselves to soften the look of them.
Balancing the lips
Some patients are concerned that their lips are naturally very thin or that their lips lack symmetry, or are uneven. There are many types and shapes of lips and each one can be beautiful in its own right. Lip fillers can be used to create a more attractive looking symmetry for patients who feel their lips are out of balance. I work with your lip shape rather than trying to create lips that might be out of keeping with your facial features.

Adding more volume with lip fillers
Younger patients who are not experiencing a lack of volume due to ageing may also want to have lip filler treatment to get a more plump and hydrated look. At Fountain of Youth I assess each patient as an individual and treat patients ethically and in their best interest. I can treat patients who already have full lips, but I would never place more lip filler than will look appropriate for a patient.

Natural results
There are 3 key factors to having natural looking lip fillers because let’s face it, we want to pass them off as our own lips with no outside influence.
- Choose the right practitioner. Someone who will listen to your desires and has examples of natural looking results.
- Small amounts at a time. Even if you want to build up, it’s best to do small amounts at a time. I recommend no more than 0.5ml at a time.
- Techniques that keep to the natural architecture of the lips. Coming back to point 1.
At Fountain of Youth Salisbury I want to restore how lip fillers are viewed by society by avoiding what’s typically associated with lip fillers (sausage lips, duck lips, overfilled lips) and by dissolving those lips that haven’t lived up to expectations.
